Braised Fish In Yogurt Recipe
Nice recipe in old cookbook, made it this weekend @ home and everyone loved it - and I get to do something else with the tub o yogurt besides smoothies.

Ingredients
  • 2-3 fish steaks (I used salmon; about 1 1/2 lbs)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large onion, sliced thin
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • 1 tbsp ghee (or olive oil, or butter)
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp ginger, shopped (I used paste)
  • 3 tsp corriander
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro (opt)

Directions
  1. Dry then rub fish with salt and tumeric.
  2. Heat ghee and fry fish until golden, set aside.
  3. Add more oil, fry one onion with other spices until onions are crisp.
  4. Lower heat, add yogurt until it simmers (bubbles),
  5. Add fish, spooning hot yogurt over fish.
  6. Continue simmering for 15mins.
  7. Serve over rice, sprinkle w/ cilantro.
