Confession: I have never served these meatballs as appetizers. They have always been the main course. And for some people,dessert and late-night snack.

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 pound hot pork sausage
  • 1 5oz can evaporated milk
  • 2 cups old fashion oats.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon salt-or to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar-or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 chopped onions

Directions
  1. In a large bowl,mix all meatball ingredients together.
  2. Shape into 1 1/2" - 2" balls.
  3. Place side by side in a 9" x 13" lightly greased baking dish. If all of the meatballs will not fit,use an additional baking dish.
  4. Combine sauce ingredients and pour over meatballs. Sauce recipe can be doubled.
  5. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until meatballs are no longer pink in the middle.
  6. Serve over rice,garlic mashed potatoes,egg noodles,or as appeitizers.
  7. Suggestion: Add some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the sauce for an extra kick.
