Garlic and Ginger Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
From jenged 16 years agoIngredients
- 2-3 cloves garlic shopping list
- 1/2 inch piece fresh ginger shopping list
- olive oil shopping list
- 2 multi-grain bread slices shopping list
- cheese, enough to cover bread thinly sliced (a good sharp cheddar, pepper jack, swiss all work well-- American cheese is NOT going to taste good with this) shopping list
How to make it
- Heat 1 Tbs of olive oil in a skillet
- Mince garlic and ginger (I like to do this in a mini-processor)
- Sautee garlic and ginger in oil until aromatic, remove from skillet but keep skillet heated
- Place cheese on one slice of bread
- Spread garlic and ginger on top of cheese and "close" the sandwich with the second bread slice
- Make sure skillet is well oiled with olive oil, there should be enough for the bread to absorb and get crisp but not burn
- Place the sandwich in the hot skillet and cover for 1-2 minutes
- Flip and toast on the other side until cheese melts
