Homemade Classic Chili

- 1 1/2 lb. stew meat, cut into 3/4-inch pieces, or ground beef shopping list
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped shopping list
- 2 tablespoons diced green bell pepper shopping list
- 2 garlic cloves, minced shopping list
- 1 (28-oz.) can diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1 (15- to 16-oz.) can kidney beans, undrained shopping list
- 1 (6-oz.) can tomato paste shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 1 beef bouillon cube shopping list
- 2 to 3 teaspoons chili powder shopping list
- 2 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1 to 2 teaspoons dried oregano shopping list
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper shopping list
- 1 bay leaf shopping list
- 1 cup beer shopping list
How to make it
- Cook meat, onions, bell pepper and garlic in nonstick Dutch oven or large saucepan over medium-high heat until browned, stirring frequently.
- Drain fat.
- Stir in all remaining ingredients.
- Cover; bring to a simmer.
- Cook 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Remove bay leaf before serving.
