My nan used to make these.... a surprise of jam inthe middle always used to make me smile.

Ingredients
  • 6oz SR flour
  • 3oz caster sugar
  • 6oz block marg
  • 1 tblspn water
  • 2 tspn almond essence
  • Raspberry jam

Directions
  1. Rub marg into flour until crumbly.
  2. Add sugar, water and essence and squeeze together like shortbread.
  3. Roll into golf ball size balls and drop into paper cases in a bun tin.
  4. Make holes with the handle of a wooden spoon and fill the cavity with raspberry jam (or similar).
  5. Bake for 15-20mins until golden brown.
