Ingredients

How to make it

  • soak greens and thoroughly clean remove stems and tear in to bite size pieces
  • add smoked turkey leg, greens, hot sauce, and vinegar to crock pot
  • cover with water
  • turn pot on high and let cook for 6-8 hours.
  • pull meat off the bone when finished cooking
  • taste throughout to check for seasoning.
  • i like my greens with some heat so i'll pump up the hot sauce
  • if greens still taste bitter, add a little more vinegar.

    if you do not want to do in the crock pot, that is fine as well. boil turkey leg with a couple of qrts of water. season accordingly. then add your greens and reseason. cook for about an hour or two until done.

    This is great. I Love Collard Greens. I can't wait to try it. I never thought of using a smoked turkey leg, thats a great idea. I always use smoked neck bone or smoked jowls or ham hocks, but the turkey would make it with less fat, I can't wait to try it, thanks!
