How to make it

  • Pour the cornmeal and 2 cups of water into a large bowl. Whisk it so there are no lumps. Set aside.
  • Next, pour the remaining 4 cups of water and the salt into a pot, and bring to a boil.
  • Now, gradually stir iin the polenta and cold water mixture.
  • Let the polenta and water simmer gently.
  • Stir frequently, so there is no sticking.
  • It will take about 30 minutes until it is thick.
  • Butter a bowl for the polenta to cool in. The polenta will take the shape of the bowl after sitting for about 10 minutes.
  • Once it is set, invert the polenta onto a flat plate. You can cut thick slices.
  • You can dredge in flour and fry and then serve them with syrup or jellies.
  • You can also put your favorite spaghetti sauce and grated cheese on the top while hot.
  • If you like mush you will know how you like to eat it.
