Sweet And Sour Braised Beef Recipe
This was a throw together that my family loves, served with buttered noodles and broccoli, crusty french bread. Great on a cold day

Ingredients
  • 3 Lb. chuck shoulder roast
  • 2 Tblsp oil
  • 2 cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar ( light or dark )
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tblspoon black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • Water to cover

Directions
  1. In a dutch oven, heat 2 tblsp oil
  2. salt and pepper roast
  3. place roast in hot oil turning to brown all sides
  4. add 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  5. Add vinegar, brown sugar, allspice
  6. add water to cover meat
  7. stir to combine ingrediants
  8. Cook on Med heat watching to make sure water level stays up.
  9. turn meat occasionally to make sure it doesn't burn
  10. cook 3 hrs.
  11. the last 1/2 hour of cooking time do not add any water
  12. turn up heat to med high and reduce sauce by 3/4
  13. remove and sllce roast serve sauce on top.
  14. Serve with Veg and buttered noodles and crusty bread
