How to make it

  • Prepare at bedtime.
  • Pour oats into cereal bowl (or similar sized bowl)
  • Add soy milk or milk just to the top of the oats (amount is important)
  • Cover bowl with a clean cloth or tea towel. Do not refrigerate.
  • In a separate bowl, place the dried fruit.
  • Heat water, and pour it over the fruit. Fruit should be completely covered by water, with a bit of extra water.
  • Cover bowl with a clean cloth or tea towel. Do not refrigerate.
  • In the morning, combine the two bowls, mix well, and taste.
  • If you want it sweeter add some maple syrup.
  • Eat it as you would oatmeal. (I like mine topped with a dollop of yogurt or keifer.)
  • Notes: Do not discard the water remaining on the fruit--it will be very sweet. The oats will be soft and very creamy.
