How to make it

  • In a large pot put the corned beef.
  • Add all the ingredients, then cover with COLD water.
  • Put the lid on and bring to the boil.
  • Lower the heat and simmer 1 hour for every 1kg.
  • Slice and rest in the liquid for 10 minutes with the heat off befor serving.
  • *best served with white sauce (you'll find this in my other recipes), green beans, new potatos and broccoli.*

    Very similar to the recipe I got from my Grandmother, who got it from her mother etc...They were English, of course. My Grandmother always added an onion, but not nutmeg. Traditionally also served with cooked cabbage, flavoured with apple and bacon. It's wonderful!
