The Oldest Of Old School Silverside Pot Roast Recipe
I recently found this in a recipe book my great grand mother got from her mother. So it dates back to about the 1920s-40's. It's a beautiful old recipe and now one of my partners faverates.

Ingredients
  • 1kg Corned beef/silverside
  • 1 cup of vinigar
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 table spoon of brown sugar
  • A pinch of fresh nutmeg

Directions
  1. In a large pot put the corned beef.
  2. Add all the ingredients, then cover with COLD water.
  3. Put the lid on and bring to the boil.
  4. Lower the heat and simmer 1 hour for every 1kg.
  5. Slice and rest in the liquid for 10 minutes with the heat off befor serving.
  6. *best served with white sauce (you'll find this in my other recipes), green beans, new potatos and broccoli.*
