How to make it

  • Snap off and discard woody bases from asparagus.
  • If desired scrape off scales.
  • Place a steamer basket in a large skillet.
  • Add enough water to come to just below basket. Bring to boiling.
  • Place asaparagus in basket. Reduce heat to medium low.
  • Cover and steam for 3 to 5 minutes or until asparagus is crisp-tender.
  • For sauce, in a small saucepan combine sour cream, mayo, lemon peel and lemon juice. Stir in enough water (1 to 2 teaspoons) to reach desired consistency. Cook and stir over low heat through, but do not boil. Serve sauce over asparagus.
