Dads Zippy Dressing Recipe

Dads Zippy Dressing Recipe
It's "Zippy" Dressing as Dad called it. Lots of flavor but no salt! I don't know if he came up with it himself or got it from somewhere. He used it when he started watching his salt intake.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup canola oil (see note)
  • 1/4 cup vinegar (see note)
  • 2 oz water
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • dash Tobasco Sauce

Directions
  1. No here's dad's recipe verbatum...
  2. (Put it all in a bottle.) Of the last 5 ingredients, he says "or way!!! more, if you wish." Shake up with thumb over top of bottle.
  3. Note: I like to use extra virgin olive oil, but once it's refrigerated, you have to let it sit out a while before serving, because the oil solidifies in the frig. I use red wine vinegar.

Zippity do dah! Sounds great, go dad! Jett

Sounds great. My hubby has high BP and needs to watch his salt also. And he loves salads-he eats them daily. Thanks for the great recipe.I'm sure he will love it.Thanks to you and your dad ;-)

I found that warming the dressing in the microwave for about 10 sec. does the trick to soften the EVOO, so you can re-mix/shake it. Certainly saves time. Looking forward to trying this recipe. Thanks.
