How to make it

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan and cook the shallots and garlic over low-mediium heat until translucent.
  • Add the beef stock and Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Heat the rolls in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes to warm them and crisp the crust.
  • Put the roast beef in the sauce as it simmers until heated through.
  • Slice the rolls and load up with the roast beef.
  • Put a small dish or ramekin on each plate with extra sauce for dipping.

    Love french dip sandwiches. YOu can sweat your onions or shallots in the microwave on low with a touch of water and add to the stock and cut the fat even further. But as Emeril says, fat carries flavor, so let's not cut too much out! Nice post.
