How to make it

  • prepeare cookoie sheet by covering with wax paper, set aside.
  • place butterscotch chips in microwave safe bowl.
  • microwave on high for 3 minutes on high, stirring every minute (microwave temperatures vary, remember!).
  • in a large bowl, mix melted mixture with chow mein noodles (don't worry if noodles break).
  • scoop onto wax paper-covered cookie sheet.
  • let sit 10 minutes.
  • eat and enjoy!
  • optional- you can substitute the butterscotch chips for chocolate and peanut butter chips (50/50). prepare as above, and add 2 diced peanut butter cups, or a snickers bar, or a milky way, or your favorite candy bar.

    We've been making haystacks in this house for years. It is still one of my girls favorite things to eat. We usually use a combo of butterscotch and chocolate chips just their preference but this recipe certainly holds up well with a variety of whatever hits your fancy
