How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350F/170C/Gas Mark4.
  • Mix dry ingredients.
  • Add butter in small pieces and cut with two knoves or a pastry blender until the flour has the consistency of cornmeal.
  • Add milk and stir with wooden spoon until mixed.
  • Roll out 1 inch thick on a floured board or worktop.
  • Cut out biscuits using a round cookie cutter, scone cutter or clean empty soup can.
  • Place closely together in a greased square baking pan.
  • Brush tops with some melted butter.
  • Bake about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

    LOL!!!! Being from the south and growing up in a big family I was making biscuits at a very young age..All I need is a very good self rising flour,a good shorting,some milk or buttermilk,and a very hot oven.I never measure anything.I sift the flor in a big bowl,get a big wad of shortning in my hand,and add the milk while I'm squishing it around in the flour,I don't mix it for long...keep the dough soft.I just roll out 1 at a time in my hand s and put them in a very well greased pan and bake them 'til they are nice and brown...They always turn out gooooooooood!!! :)
