How to make it

  • Line a standard size pie pan with your favorite pie crust. Do not pre-bake. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Make crumbs by mixing together the flour, sugar and butter.
  • In another bowl, mix together soda, water and molasses. Pour this mixture in the pie shell; sprinkle the crumbs all over the top.
  • Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until pie is firm and top is lightly browned.

    My grandmother made these too and didn't leave me her recipe. I have tried many shoofly pie recipes and am still looking for the perfect one!
