Runza Casserole Recipe
Instead of making runzas make a runza casserole. This is a very good casserole kids enjoy.

Ingredients
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 tubes crescent rolls
  • 1 lb. mozzarella cheese, shredded

Directions
  1. Brown ground beef and onion; drain.
  2. Put cabbage on top of meat for a few minutes.
  3. Add salt & pepper.
  4. Using 1 tube,crescent rolls spread over the bottom of 9x13" pan..
  5. spread ground beef/ cabbage mixture on top.
  6. Add layer of cheese.
  7. Using the second tube crescent rolls, put pieces on top of cheese.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, covering with foil the last 10 minutes to soften crust, if desired. I leave uncovered for a crispy top.
  9. Serve hot.

Oh my gosh! this sounds fantastic and so easy. Saving this one for sure......


I worked at Runza for 2.5 years in my high school days...they had a special brown bag that had the spices in it (Original spices). Anyway, I remember trying to memorize the recipe, but came up with Ranch dry mix in addition to the salt/pepper and onion. Thanks for this casserole addition.

Alterations


Another way of using this recipe try it with my quick no knead roll recipe. Roll out the roll dough and put filling on top then fold the dough over and seal edges. MMMMMM This is good also.
