Swingin Granny Beer Cake

- cake shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 2/3 cup shortening shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. soda shopping list
- 2 tsp. nutmeg shopping list
- 1 tsp. cloves shopping list
- 1 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 2 3/4 cups flour shopping list
- 1 (12 oz) can beer shopping list
- 1 1/4 cups mashed bananas shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups chopped dates (optional) shopping list
- 1/2 cup nuts (optional) shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- Icing: shopping list
- 1 stick butter or oleo shopping list
- 1 (3 oz) pkg cream cheese shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups nuts (optional) shopping list
- 1/2 box powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Cake
- Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs.
- Stir salt, soda, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and flour together in a separate bowl.
- Add beer, bananas, dates, nuts and vanilla to creamed mixture.
- Add dry ingredients last and mix well.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
- Test to be sure it's done.
- Depending on the type of beer you use, it may need to bake up to 1 hour.
- Icing
- Mix all ingredients together for the icing.
- Spread over the cake after it has cooled.
