Chocolate Italian Cookies Recipe
This goes with an earlier post of "Plain Italian Cookies". These are just as good! This recipe has been around for many years.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup crisco shortening
  • 4 unbeaten eggs
  • 5 cups all purpose flour(unsifted)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons cloves
  • 1 cup Hershey's chocolate syrup
  • 1/4 cup cold coffee
  • 1 cup chopped toasted nuts

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cream sugar and shortening,
  3. Add unbeaten eggs - mix well.
  4. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the chocolate syrup & coffee.
  5. Fold in the nuts, mixing well
  6. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes
  7. Yield 8 dozen cookies!
