Amish Sweet Potato Pudding Recipe

This dish is my family's favorite side dish for holidays. The kids love it!!!

Ingredients
  • 4 large sweet potatoes or yams (to make 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes)
  • 3 Tbs. melted butter
  • 9 Tbs. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
  • 3 eggs

Directions
  1. Bake potatoes in 400 degree oven for 45 minutes until soft.
  2. Scrap meat out of potatoes and mash
  3. Add butter, salt, sugar, and milk and beat until creamy
  4. Beat eggs and add them to mixture
  5. Put in a buttered 13x9 glass baking dish
  6. Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour
  7. Put marshmallows on top of casserole and continue baking for 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Make sure you put the baking dish on a foil lined cookie sheet or you could have a big marshmallow mess in your oven :-)

Yes this is good i put cinnamon on it with some brown sugar and bake it


I love sweet potatoes. I usually add cinnamon and some vanilla. jett


I'm not a fan of Amish/German cooking, but this does sound tasty, and it will be a unique dish to take to a dinner with family or friends. Thanks for the post!
