Pickled Fish Recipe

Ingredients

1 kg fresh fish {snoek,steenbras,yellowtail,}----cut into portions

salt to taste

cooking oil {for frying}

INGREDIENTS FOR SAUCE :-

2 large onions ,sliced

5 cloves garlic .....chopped

500ml vinegar

125ml water

10 ml curry powder

5ml turmeric

10 ml whole coriander seeds

1 ml peppercorns

4 allspice

2-3 bay leaves

sugar to taste`

chillies to taste {fresh green ....sliced}

Directions

wash fish and season with salt

heat oil in frying pan....fry fish until cooked ....5 minutes on both sides

set aside cooked fish

make sauce:-

in a saucepan cook vinegar,onions and spices

simmer gently until well blended and onions are transparent,but still crunchy

stir in sugar to taste

place cooked fish in a deep casserole dish and pour warm sauce over ensuring all the fish is covered

allow flavour to develop while cooling

serve with freshly baked butter bread .......yummy ...enjoy
