Orange Pound Cake

- 1 1/2 sticks butter shopping list
- 2 2/3 cups white sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon orange extract shopping list
- 1 tablespoon orange zest shopping list
- 2/3 cup shortening shopping list
- 5 large eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring shopping list
- 4 2/3 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- orange glaze: shopping list
- 1/2 stick butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/4 cup orange juice shopping list
- 1 tablespoon orange zest shopping list
How to make it
- Mix first 7 ingredients in order.
- Sift together dry ingredients and add alternating with milk until both are incorporated.
- Grease and flour a 12-cup tube pan.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes and then at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Cool cake in pan for 20 minutes.
- Glaze:
- In a small saucepan,combine ingredients and boil until syrup-like(about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and cool for 15 minutes.
- Pour half over cake while still in pan. Turn cake out and pour on the rest. Cool cake completely.

I love pound cake... you can do so much with it..... love to make trifles out of it..
