From chef2 16 years agoIngredients
- French Potato Casserole shopping list
- 4 lb. russet potatoes shopping list
- 1/2 cup each melted butter (use butter), grated onion shopping list
- to taste each salt, pepper, paprika shopping list
How to make it
- Directions
- Peel potatoes. Put in a deep bowl with water so they don't brown while you prepare them. In a 9x13" casserole. Slice potatoes paper thin, uniform, cut really fast. After first potato is cut put a layer of slices in bottom of casserole. Sprinkle on a tbsp. grated onion, salt and pepper. Now put on next layer. After this drizzle on some butter. Continue this until all potatoes are gone. Don't use salt and pepper on every layer. Be sure to divide onion evenly into enough parts. Same with butter. You want 1 last drizzle for on top.
- Then top it off with a light dusting of paprika for color and even a crack of black pepper. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 400º F. heated for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take off foil; let it bake 30 minutes more. You should form a nice medium browned crust on the top. The crust is going to be a major hit. Cut with a sharp knife, use a spatula to take it out of pan. It will be steaming hot.
- Makes 8 servings.
