Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt butter in large heavy pan over low heat. Add onions, wine, vinegar, sugar, pepper & salt and stir well. Cover and cook slowly over low heat, stirring frequently for about an hour. Remove cover and cook 2 hours longer, stirring occasionally, until the onions are nearly carmelized.
  • Make these at the same time you are making the shredded beef. Spoon over beef in buns.

Time to pull out the old Silver Palate cookbook - I LOVED their recipes...so flavorful. We are huge onion lovers around here, so I already know these simmered onions with butter and wine are going to be a big hit. Thank you once again!
