How to make it

  • MIX CORNMEAL WITH FLOUR, SUGAR,BAKING POWDER AND SALT.and dry mustard
  • ADD EGG AND MILK .
  • BLEND IN MELTED SHORTENING;MIX WELL
  • INSERT POPCICLE STICKS 1/2 WAY INTO HOTDOGS.
  • AND DIP HOT DOGS INTO BATTER, AND COVER COMPLETELY
  • PUT IN DEEP FRYER IN SMALL BATCHES AND FRY AT 375 DEGREES UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
  • SERVE WITH MUSTARD - OR KETCHUP- POTATO CHIPS OR FRENCH FRIES

    I used about 1 cup of milk. Did you intend to omit the amount of milk? I have little experience with batters and deep frying but a cup seemed about right to make a fairly thick batter.
