Adding cream to homemade tomato sauce helps cut the acidity in the tomato and brings out other flavours. Use any pasta you prefer.

Ingredients
  • 1 450g package of Fusilli pasta (I like the ones made with semolina)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 14 oz can of Italian Style Plum Tomatoes
  • 1 400 g lean ground beef
  • 1/3 c tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried Oregano
  • 2 tsp dried Basil
  • 1 tsp dried Rosemary, crushed
  • 1 tsp dried Parsley
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 c 18% cream or evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Directions
  1. Cook pasta according to directions and drain.
  2. Heat oil, add ground beef and cook until most of the meat is no longer pink. Drain liquid from pan.
  3. Return to heat and add onions and garlic and dried herbs.
  4. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add plum tomatoes and tomatoe paste.
  6. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Add cream and simmer until sauce is reduced.
  8. Salt and peper to taste.
  9. Top with Parmesan
