DATE TARTS This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Notation on card indicates this has been in the family for over 100 years. Read more See less

Ingredients

2 cups seedless dried dates shopping list
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind shopping list
3 tablespoons lemon juice shopping list
3 tablespoons sugar shopping list
2 tablespoons milk shopping list
6 unbaked tart shells shopping list
1 tablespoon butter shopping list
flour shopping list

How to make it

Rinse and drain dates then chop and mix with rind and lemon juice then with the sugar and milk.
Put tart shells in muffin tin.
Fill shells and sprinkle each with a little flour and dot with the butter generously.
Bake at 400 for 25 minutes.
Serve plain or top with custard, cream or meringue.
