Ingredients

1 small jar dried beef

1 tablespoon flour

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1-1/2 cups milk

4-6 well buttered toasted slices of bread

Directions

Put shredded beef in pan on stove

Sprinkle with flour

Add butter

Slightly brown

Add milk, and stir until thick

Have buttered toast ready, and serve over toast

CAN SERVE GARNISHED WITH SLICED HARD BOILED EGGS

Thanks for this. My dad always made this when my mom was too sick to cook. The only other thing he could make was fried eggs. But I always loved the beef. Can you still buy dried beef in a jar? My Gran used to can her own.
