How to make it

  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour and sugar; cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Press into an 8-inch square baking pan.
  • Bake at 375° for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Combine quick cooking oats, syrup, and salt in a small saucepan.
  • Cook, stirring frequently, until oats have absorbed most of the syrup, about 5 minutes. Spread over warm crumb crust mixture and return to the oven for 10 minutes longer. Cut into squares while warm. Makes about 16 squares.

    These turned out quite tasty. I melted some chocolates and pour on top of the maple layer. The squares soft, chewy and sweet!
