Maple Shortbread Cookies

- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 3/4 cup quick cooking oates shopping list
- 1 cup maple syrup shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
How to make it
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour and sugar; cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Press into an 8-inch square baking pan.
- Bake at 375° for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Combine quick cooking oats, syrup, and salt in a small saucepan.
- Cook, stirring frequently, until oats have absorbed most of the syrup, about 5 minutes. Spread over warm crumb crust mixture and return to the oven for 10 minutes longer. Cut into squares while warm. Makes about 16 squares.

These turned out quite tasty. I melted some chocolates and pour on top of the maple layer. The squares soft, chewy and sweet!

I've never had a shortbread cookie with oatmeal!! Or maple syrup for that matter -- but they sound delishuss!! And I know I will eat them all!!
