Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 2 pounds cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced into thin wedges
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • powdered sugar

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Melt butter in large ovenproof skillett
  3. Add apples, 2 tablespoons of the regular sugar; cook and stir for about 15 to 20 minutesuntil liquid has evaporated.
  4. Stir in vanilla and cinnamon; remove from heat.
  5. Beat together milk, eggs, egg whites, remaining sugar and salt in a bowl.
  6. Gradually wisk in flour until well blended and smooth.
  7. Pour batter over hot apples.
  8. Bake in 450 degree oven for 20 minutes Reduce heat to 350 and bake 10 to 15 minutes until puffed and brown.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into wedges.
