Easy Hot German Potato Salad Recipe
A superbly easy way to make this hot salad! If you like tang-ier salad, add a bit more vinegar to your taste.

Ingredients
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 box (6oz) scalloped potatoes
  • 1 heaping tsp onion flakes
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar

Directions
  1. Forty minutes before serving, fry bacon crisp and drain. Crumble bacon. Drain fat, empty potatoes into pan with seasoning; stir in 3 cups water, onion flakes and sugar; cover and cook on low for 30 minutes until potatoes are tender. Stir in vinegar and bacon bits. Serve hot.

This was OUTSTANDING!!!! I finally made it a couple weeks ago, cooked one bacon strip more than it calls for by mistake and left the grease in the pan (there wasn't a lot) and it was fabulous!!! I'm not a sour food fan. I would have liked it with a bit more vinegar, but it was wonderful regardless. I will be doing this way simple recipe again!! Don't be afraid to try it.

Alterations


Not a suggestion so much as what I did out of need. I didn't have dried onion flakes, so I minced a small raw onion instead. I probably used a bit less than I should have, but that's because my mother is very sensitive to onions and I have to limit them.
