Felafel Fried Chickpea Fritters

- 1/2 lb Dried chickpeas ( NOT CANNED ! ) shopping list
- 1 lg garlic clove or as desired shopping list
- 1 lg onion shopping list
- 1/2 ts cumin shopping list
- 1/2 ts dried Corriander ( some chopped fresh is even better ) shopping list
- 6 Sprigs fresh parsley shopping list
- 1/8 ts cayenne pepper shopping list
- 1/4 ts baking powder shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
- flour as needed prior to frying shopping list
- optional: shopping list
- c shopping list
- hopped fresh cilantro, some cooked bulgur wheat as a filler/binder if needed or even some dried breadcrumbs shopping list
How to make it
- Cover dried peas with water and let soak overnight.
- Drain well
- Put in a food processor the onion, garlic and spices etc.
- Pure mixture finely but not into a paste,
- Add baking powder and mix well.
- Mixture should be firm enough to roll/form into balls.; if not, add some filler such as a Tbs of flour or some cooked bulghur wheat
- Wet hands and form into balls the size of a walnut.
- Roll in some flour to coat and deep fry in hot oil till golden.
- Make sure your oil is hot enough for deep frying.
- Drain on paper towling
- Serve with a hummus dip in pita bread
- Or eat with a salsa sauce ( not traditional but really good ! )
- Note: do not use canned chickpeas with this recipe it won't turn out well!
