How to make it

  • Cover dried peas with water and let soak overnight.
  • Drain well
  • Put in a food processor the onion, garlic and spices etc.
  • Pure mixture finely but not into a paste,
  • Add baking powder and mix well.
  • Mixture should be firm enough to roll/form into balls.; if not, add some filler such as a Tbs of flour or some cooked bulghur wheat
  • Wet hands and form into balls the size of a walnut.
  • Roll in some flour to coat and deep fry in hot oil till golden.
  • Make sure your oil is hot enough for deep frying.
  • Drain on paper towling
  • Serve with a hummus dip in pita bread
  • Or eat with a salsa sauce ( not traditional but really good ! )
  • Note: do not use canned chickpeas with this recipe it won't turn out well!
