Bbq Salmon Steaks With Tamari Butter Sauce Recipe

BBQ Salmon Steaks With Tamari Butter Sauce Recipe
Add Step-by-Step Photos

These salmon steaks (you could use a fillet also) are delicious grilled up and served on a bed of Swiss Chard and a side of Basmati rice. Tastes like it's very complicated, but it's not! Note: this is a basting sauce, NOT a marinade

Ingredients
  • 4 salmon steaks or a large fillet for 4 people
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 T butter
  • 1/4 catsup or Heinz chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup Tamari Sauce
  • 1/4 cup sherry (the kind you would drink)
  • handful of scallions, chopped fine

Directions
  1. Melt the butter and stir in the minced garlic
  2. Simmer gently so that it doesn't brown
  3. Add the catsup or chili sauce and Tamari and simmer for about 10 minutes
  4. Add the sherry for a couple minutes more to let the flavors blend
  5. USE THIS AS A BASTE, NOT A MARINADE
  6. Baste the salmon just before grilling
  7. If using salmon steaks, baste both sides and baste while turning; if using a fillet put it on a double thickness of tin foil and baste the top
  8. BBQ with lid closed, 15 minutes or so or until done to your taste.
  9. Baste it just before removing from grill
  10. Sprinkle with chopped scallions and serve
