Ingredients
  • CAKE:
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 t. soda
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/3 c. smooth peanut butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 t.. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk ( or 1/2 c. milk + 1T. vinegar)
  • chopped peanuts (optional)
  • PEANUT BUTTER ICING
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/3 c. smooth peanut butter
  • 1/3 c. + 1 T. milk
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • 1 t.. vanilla

Directions
  1. CAKE:
  2. Sift first four ingredients together and set aside.
  3. Bring margarine, water and peanut butter to a boil and add to flour mixture.
  4. In another bowl, combine eggs, vanilla and buttermilk.
  5. Add to peanutbutter batter.
  6. Pour into a greased 10x15" pan and bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Ice cake while still warm and sprinkle with chopped peanuts if desired.
  8. FROSTING:
  9. Bring margarine, peanut butter and milk to a boil, remove from heat. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.

My daughter and family will be visiting us Memorial Weekend - she could live on peanut butter. I have printed off your recipe already...I have to "treat" her with this one!


Hotta... gosh.. this sounds yummy....I just made a Texas choc sheet cake over the weekend for company...but this sounds really good... Im giving it a try next.....Thanks...


Gave it a try and it was GOOOD!!! i did keep the cocoa tho to make it a chocolate peanut butter cake---sooo rich and good w/ vanilla ice cream!!!
