Chocolate Angel Food Cake

- 3/4 cup flour shopping list
- 1/3 cup cocoa shopping list
- 1/3 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/4 teasp. salt shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups egg whites ( about 10) at room temperature shopping list
- 1 teasp. cream of tartar shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 teasp. vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 teasp. almond extract shopping list
How to make it
- sift together the flour, cocoa, 1/3 cup sugar, and the salt...
- sift 3 times
- beat egg whites with the cream of tartar and the flavoring ,slowly at first increase the speed
- when the whites are quite frothy slowly sift in the sugar, beating hard until firm peaks form
- slowly sift the flour mixture over the whites, folding constantly and gently until it's smooth
- turn into an ungreased tube pan
- bake in a preheated oven at 325'F for 50 minutes or until the cake is brown and is slightly resistant to the touch
- cool in the pan inverted over a rack
- when cool loosen the sides with a thin knife
- serve at room temperature
- optional: you can cut the cake into 3 layers and ice between the layers with Two Whiskey Chocolate Mousse or other fillings..
