Vinegar Pie Recipe
This is another oldie of mine. I use to take these to all the family reunions.

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp. of butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 egg white, beatened
  • 1 cup water
  • dash salt
  • 1 pie crust

Directions
  1. Cream the butter and sugar.
  2. Add dry ingredients and blend in egg yolk.
  3. Add vinegar, lemon juice and water.
  4. Cook in top of double boiler until thick.
  5. Stir.
  6. Fold in beaten egg white.
  7. Bake the pie crust for 5 minutes.
  8. Pour filling in crust.
  9. Bake until brown.

Looks great! I was just looking at a vinegar pie recipe the other day, that gave some history I thought was interesting. Of course, yours has both lemon and vinegar. But this book said, in the old days lemons were a delicacy only the rich could get, and the poorer people used vinegar in their pies in place of lemon. I never heard that before.
