Easy Sweet And Sour Brisket Recipe
Easy favorite brisket recipe. Best with mashed potatoes.

Ingredients
  • 1 16 ounce can of stewed tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 8 ounce package of sauerkraut, refrigerated
  • 1 cup of applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 3 1/2 lb. fresh beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp of cold water
  • 2 tbsp of cornstarch
  • parsley sprigs
  • boiled new potatoes or mashed potatoes

Directions
  1. In a 10 inch skillet combine undrained tomatoes, undrained sauerkraut, applesauce and brown sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat.
  3. Add brisket, spooning sauce over the meat.
  4. Cover and simmer for 3 hours or until meat is tender, spooning sauce over meat occasionally.
  5. Transfer meat to serving platter, keep warm.
  6. Skim off excess fat from pan juices.
  7. Combine water and cornstarch; stir into tomato mixture.
  8. Cook and stir til thickened and bubbly.
  9. Cook for two minutes.
  10. Spoon some sauce over meat, pass remainder sauce.
