How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Butter and flour a 9 by 9 inch pan.
  • In a medium bowl cream together the butter and brown sugar.
  • When light and fluffy add the egg(s) and milk.
  • Mix well.
  • Next add the spices and baking soda.
  • Mix weell again.
  • Add the flours.
  • Mix until just combined.
  • Stir in the fresh and dried fruits.
  • Spread batter into the pan.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool before cutting.
  • Makes 25 squares.
  • TIP: Boost the fiber in cookie, cake, and bar recipes by substituting whole-wheat flour for half of the white flour.
  • If serving them warm use whipped topping, yummmm.
