Tangy Beef Brisket Recipe
Slow baked in oven and easy to throw together. Reminds me a lot of sauerbraten. Lots of delicious gravy!

Ingredients
  • 2 Large Onions, sliced
  • 4 Pound Beef Brisket
  • 2 Packages Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 Cup Beef Broth (or Water)
  • 1 1/2 Cups Good Red Wine-Merlot or Burgundy are good
  • 1/2 Cup Chili Sauce, or catsup in a pinch
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar, packed

Directions
  1. Slice onions and place in the bottom of a roasting pan
  2. Place brisket on top of onions.
  3. Mix the rest of ingredients and pour over meat.
  4. Either cover roast well with a roasting pan cover or cover with aluminum foil tightly.
  5. Roast for 4 hours in a 300 degree oven OR until tender.
  6. Let stand 15 minutes before slicing meat to serve.
  7. Serve with pan juices.
