Turtle Dove Bars

TURTLE DOVE BARS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Smith Estate in Granbury, Texas in 1987.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar firmly packed shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter softened shopping list
- 1 cup pecan halves shopping list
- Filling: shopping list
- 2/3 cup butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed shopping list
- 1/2 cup butterscotch flavored chips shopping list
- 1/2 cup semisweet real chocolate chips shopping list
How to make it
- In a large mixing bowl combine all crust ingredients except pecans.
- Beat at medium speed scraping bowl often for 3 minutes.
- Press on bottom of ungreased rectangular baking pan.
- Sprinkle pecans evenly over unbaked crust.
- Combine butter and brown sugar in saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat stirring constantly for 5 minutes.
- Boil stirring constantly for 3 minutes.
- Pour over pecans and crust then bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with butterscotch and chocolate chips.
- Allow to stand 5 minutes swirling chips as they melt.
- Cool completely then cut into bars.
