Oh the memories this recipe brings back. When I was a kid my Aunt always made this in the spring. I remember her letting it simmer on the stove and I couldn't wait for it to be ready to eat. She always let me have a bowl while it was warm and then later in the evening we would have vanilla ice cream topped with the sauce.... she has been gone for over 20+ years now but the memories will never fade.

My mother always made rhubarb sauce when she grew her own rhubarb "back in the day"...good stuff - we used to have a dish full for breakfast...started the day off good!

My dad used to make this when I was a kid, and I still make it to this day! It's great over ice cream, but I prefer to just eat it warm out of a bowl! I cook mine extra long, so there are no chunks, and it's smooth. And, my sister adds a bit of strawberry flavoring to hers. Mmmmmm! Got my 5!
