This is really good and the taste is out of this world...I make the same mixture in my chocolate flan cake.

The technique for making the caramel and cooking in a water bath are excellent. I do not, however like using canned product (sorry).

I think I overcooked the caramel...it reached hard candy stage and did not want to leave my baking dish...maybe spraying with non-stick spray first would help. The custard seems a little over-cooked too. Next time I'll bake it like I do cheesecake - 1hr at 250, then 1 hr with oven off and door closed. Flavor was good though - I used coconut instead of almond; sweet, creamy and delicious.
