Ingredients
  • extra flashlight bulb and batteries
  • 2-4 feet of thin, flexible wire
  • needle and thread assortment
  • small square of sandpaper
  • Super Glue or Crazy Glue
  • clevis pins and split rings
  • nylon cord
  • extra stove parts
  • safety pins
  • large metal Band-Aid box or similar sealable container
  • electrical tape

Directions
  1. Flashlight bulbs do burn out. To avoid breakage, carry a spare bulb in its original plastic packaging.
  2. Carry only brand new spare batteries.
  3. Include wire to repair broken pack joints or to hold the sole of a boot to its leather upper. To secure the sole, simply run a single strand of wire through the lug grooves around to the boot top and twist off.
  4. Include needle and thread for fabric repairs - heavyweight thread for repairing equipment and lightweight thread for clothes.
  5. Pack sandpaper to clean dirt off equipment before applying glue, to sharpen needles and pins or to freshen battery terminals.
  6. Extra clevis pins and split rings will replace lost or broken ones on your backpack.
  7. Use nylon cord as a shoelace, a tent line, or a clothesline.
  8. Examine your stove for parts that are easily lost or broken. Buy duplicates and pack them in your kit.
  9. Include safety pins to repair broken tent zippers and lost buttons.
  10. Pack all repair items in the Band-Aid box or other container.
  11. Wrap several yards of electrical tape around the container. Use electrical tape for fabric tears that are too difficult to sew. In a pinch, electrical tape can even hold a pair of broken eyeglasses together.

Perfect post for the summer traveler!

Ok this is going to sound insane, but it's also great to have a few Kotex in a first aid kit in a vehicle. They make outstanding bandages.
