Bristow Date Pudding

Mrs. Bristow must have been a very good friend and cook. Her recipes are sprinkled throughout my grandma's recipe book. For the date lovers.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dates cut fine shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 3/4 cup sugar shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup boiling water shopping list
- 1 1/3 cups brown sugar shopping list
- large lump of butter shopping list
- whipped cream or lemon sauce shopping list
How to make it
- Mix together the dates, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and milk.
- This will be stiff.
- Spread in and 8 x 8 or 8 x 10 greased pan.
- 2nd step
- Stir together the boiling water, brown sugar, butter and when well blended pour over the 1st mixture.
- Bake in a slow oven (350) oven for about one hour.
- Serve alone or with whipped cream or lemon sauce
