Filled Coffee Cake

- Cake: shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter (softened) shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- Filling/Topping: shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup white sugar shopping list
- 2 tbsp. flour shopping list
- 2 1/2 to 3 tbsp. softened butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans and heap the amount) shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (shake a little extra in) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare 9" x 9" baking pan by greasing well.
- Cake:
- Cream together butter, sugar and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk to first mixture; add vanilla.
- Filling:
- Work all ingredients together until crumbly.
- Assembly:
- Pour half of the batter into greased baking pan. Top with at least half of filling. Pour remainder of batter on top of filling/topping. Top with remainder of filling/topping. Bake on middle rack at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until crumbs of cake just stick to toothpick when tested.
