How to make it

  • Line cookie sheets with wax paper. In a large bowl stir together the peanut butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla with a wooden spoon, mixing until well blended. Stir in oats and chocolate chips.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax-paper sheets. Store tightly covered in airtight container between layers of wax paper.

Just made these and ended up with a soggy mess. Added at least 2 cups of oatmeal to bring the consistency closer to cookie status. There were still way too many chocolate chips even with the extra oatmeal.

If you really want to try this, I would start with only 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and be aware that you will probably need much more oatmeal than the recipe calls for. I did use Adams All-Natural no salt added peanut butter so I'm not sure if that contributed to the problem.

I wouldn't make these if you're planning on serving them to anyone other than your family (whom I'm assuming won't mind sticky fingers and cookies that fall apart if you try to eat them in anything more than one bite). That said, my 2-year-old loved eating the dough while I formed the cookies. At least they taste pretty good.
