How to make it

  • Wash collard greens in at least 3 changes of water to remove all sediment.
  • Remove stalks and thick veins and rip leaves into large pieces.
  • In a skillet partially fry bacon and retain drippings.
  • Bring water to a boil.
  • Add chopped onion, bacon, salt, pepper, garlic, Worchestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and bacon drippings to boiling water.
  • Add greens to boiling water.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 4 hours.

    We love collards. I had just posted a collard green recipe on Friday. Baked chicken & dressing with greens is some great comfort food!
