Spicy fish chops, Indian style

Ingredients
  • Fish 500gms
  • Potatoes 2 large sized
  • Fresh coriander leaves - a few sprigs
  • Green chillies 2-3
  • Onions 2 medium sized
  • Eggs 2
  • Raisins 1 tbsp
  • Vegetable Oil 2 tbsps+ to deep fry
  • salt to taste
  • White pepper powder - half tbsp
  • turmeric powder quarter tbsp (optional)
  • vinegar 1 tbsp
  • Breadcrumbs 1 cup

Directions
  1. Clean, wash, and drain fish. Poach or steam on medium heat for three to four minutes. cool, remove skin, bones and flake fish meat.
  2. Wash, boil, cool, peel and mash potatoes. Clean, wash and finely chop fresh coriander leaves. remove stems, wash and finely chop green chillies.
  3. Peel, wash and finely chop onions. Whisk eggs lightly. Wash and pat dry raisins.
  4. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. add onions and saute till light golden brown. Remove from heat and add fish, potatoes, coriander leaves, green chillies, raisins, salt, white pepper powder, turmeric powder and vinegar.
  5. Mix thoroughly and divide into ten to twelve equal portions. Shape into round patties of half inch thickness.
  6. Dip patties in whisked egg, coat with breadcrumbs.
  7. Heat sufficient oil in a frying pan and deep fry fish patties till golden brown.
  8. Drain onto an absorbent paper and serve hot.

Wow this is a completely new idea for fish. I had never thought of combining these ingredients but I bet its a winner. I will have to give it a try. I'm guessing baking would work as well as frying. I'm not much on fried foods.
