How to make it

  • Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening with a fork. Gradually and milk and mix until smooth. Drop by tablespoon into hot stew. Cover tightly and simmer for 10-12 minutes. DO NOT PEEK or else they will turn out doughy instead of fluffy.

    I love dumplings as well and we have a similar heritage. I am Irish/English/Canadian eh... I always like to toss in a handful of parsley flakes, just for colour.
