Ingredients

How to make it

  • Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a shallow bowl or small baking pan.
  • Dip bread into egg mixture (don't soak the bread for too long) and coat both sides.
  • Melt butter in skillet over medium heat.
  • Add bread in batches and cook 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Add more butter as needed.
  • Serve the toast warm with syrup, jam, or powdered sugar. (I often serve them with Strawberry Sauce).
  • Strawberry Sauce
  • 1 pt. strawberries, hulled
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • Cut strawberries into halfes. Saute strawberries, sugar and lemon juice until it becomes sauce-like. Makes about 1 2/3 cups.

This is exactly how I make my French toast, so I know this is a five star recipe.

I think the idea is that this French toast isn't supposed to be crunchy, which makes it really good. I even made my own powdered sugar (who knew that you just blend regular sugar!)

These were awesome. I used some old Cuban bread that was about to go off, and the strawberry sauce was delicious.

I kinda wish I had the straweberries to go with this- as for bread, I'm trying leftover bagels.
